Strengthening Relations Between the University of Hilla and Istanbul Gelisim University


On July 14, 2025, a delegation from the University of Hilla, one of our partner universities in Iraq, visited our university to reinforce and strengthen bilateral cooperation. As part of this visit, the delegation met with our university's Rector Prof. Dr. Bahri ŞAHİN, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Necmettin MARAŞLI and Prof. Dr. Nuri KURUOĞLU, as well as representatives from IECO and the International Office.


On July 14, 2025, a delegation from the University of Hilla, one of our partner universities in Iraq, visited our university to reinforce and strengthen bilateral cooperation. As part of this visit, the delegation  met with our university's Rector Prof. Dr. Bahri ŞAHİN, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Necmettin MARAŞLI and Prof. Dr. Nuri KURUOĞLU, as well as representatives from IECO and the International Office.

Established in 2011, the University of Hilla is one of Iraq’s leading educational institutions, comprising 11 faculties, including engineering, medicine, and humanities. The university currently has over 12,000 active students and more than 7,000 graduates. With 248 academic staff members, the University of Hilla aims to provide its students with a high-quality and visionary education.

During the meeting held on July 14, the University of Hilla delegation and our university’s Rector Prof. Dr. Bahri ŞAHİN, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Necmettin MARAŞLI and Prof. Dr. Nuri KURUOĞLU, along with UDIO-K and International Office representatives, discussed topics such as student and academic exchange programs, joint scientific research projects, and potential collaborations. Following the discussions, Murat Emre ŞENSOY, UDIO-K Assistant, gave a detailed presentation introducing our university. The meeting concluded with a gift presentation.

It was emphasized that this meaningful visit holds the potential to further advance higher education relations between Türkiye and Iraq. With an increasing number of bilateral agreements, our university continues to move forward confidently on the path of internationalization, enhancing its global recognition and academic engagement.
